Frequently asked questions (in no particular order)
It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a few residents of the Perthmore Glen subdivision of Perth, Ontario learned about the Phase V development plans of the main developer, who had built the previous four developments, they began to wonder whether the long disbanded Perthmore Community Association (PCA) should be resurrected so all Perthmore residents could be kept informed and could raise any concerns with a collective voice through one association's conduit.
When was this current version of the PCA created?
In 2017
Who was elected as the first President of this new PCA version?
Mike Flynn, a resident on Antonio Way, was "volunteered" into the position and remained President for the next couple of years until stepping back.
Which builder has been the prime developer of Perthmore Glen?
Perthmore Development Ltd. began building the first set of houses in the subdivision in 1988 and now a second generation of the DeCaria family carries on the family tradition of building fine homes.

Is the PCA opposed to new development in Perthmore Glen?
Not at all! We recognize that hosuing has become increasingly expensive and hard to find to accomodate the needs of a growing Canadian population. We welcome new neighbours to join us in this community that we have come to love because Perth is a superb Heritage Town in which to live. Any concerns that we might raise, with the Town, the developer or both, are meant in an honest collaborative effort to ensure that any new neighbours arriving will enjoy the same ambience and quality of life that brought us to Perth in the first place.
Is the PCA opposed to Perthmore Development Ltd. as the prime developer of Perthmore Glen?
Again, not at all! As indicated earlier, the DeCaria family behind Perthmore Development Ltd. is now into its second generation of building fine homes since 1988 in our Perthmore subdivision. We would not be living here if we had not found the homes well built and the neighbourhood a pleasant coummunity. Our interactions with Perthmore Development Ltd. have, almost, always been pleasant and interactive collaboration.
So why the slight qualifier of "almost"?
Because, despite starting off on the basis of mutual respect and trust, Perthmore Development Ltd. is still a business that needs to make a profit or it cannot carry on in business. The most honest and hard working business must still seek to cut costs and increase profits without losing the trust of the customers that pay for the business' services or products. This might inevitably cause the occasional differences between what the developer seeks to build and what the residents wish to see added to our community. The PCA was created to spot potential differences and to attempt to resolve them in as amicable fashion as possible.
How does the PCA attempt to resolve "differences"?
First we have to be made aware there might be a "potential" difference that the PCA Board believes might be of interest or affect the quality of life of our members and community residents. The PCA does this by reading the local news, studying the websites of the Town and the developer and communicating what we found to our members through newsletters or emails so we can determine whether our members wish their Board to pursue the matter further.
Once an issue has been identified as something worth pursuing the PCA will attempt to contact the other parties (Town/developer/county) to present our concerns and seek a resolution. We try not to present too many minor concerns, nor appear to be just constant complainers, as we need to maintain a good relationship with all interested parties. For the most part this collaboration has worked out well over the years.
